Bryant Beats Merrimack 3-1

SMITHFIELD, RI ?The Bryant University field hockey team beat Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack 3-1 in game played today at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.
The Bulldogs jumped on the Warriors early when freshman Courtney O?Brien (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal 6:02 into the game. Merrimack responded with a goal of their own 30 seconds later when Cassandra Leone scored to make the score 1-1.
Bryant (2-4) then scored the game-winning goal at 28:38 in the first when freshman Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.) scored off a feed from junior Maureen Burns (Derry, NH).
The Bulldogs scored an insurance goal in the second half when Burns scored at 37:55 off an assist from freshman Marianne Wood (Wakefield, Mass.).
Bryant senior goalkeeper Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, NH) again played great for the Bulldogs allowing only one goal and making nine saves.
Bryant?s next game will be Wednesday when they travel to Bentley. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
