Bulldog Field Hockey Opens Season at 1-1

The Bryant field hockey team opened the 2004 season with a split in a pair of home games over the weekend. On Saturday, the Bulldogs exploded for seven goals en route to a 7-1 win over Mansfield. Freshmen Courtney O?Brien (Tewksbury, MA) and Kate Tavella (Norwalk, Conn.) each had a pair of goals for Bryant.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs fell to defending national champion and top-ranked Bloomsburg 6-0. The Bulldogs will travel to Assumption on Wednesday to open Northeast-10 Conference play, and visit Saint Michael?s on Saturday. Bryant defeated Saint Michael?s in last year?s Northeast-10 Conference semifinals.

Bryant senior goalkeeper Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, N.H.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Week after allowing just one goal and picking up five saves in the win over Mansfield.
