Field Hockey Falls 3-1 to Bentley Sunday

SMITHFIELD, RI ? The Bryant University field hockey team fell 3-1 to Bentley College on Senior Day Sunday at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.

The game saw the Falcons be the aggressors with Bentley (16-1) out shooting Bryant (6-11) 24-to-8 in the game. However with that advantage the Bulldogs managed to score the only goal in the first half on only one shot. The goal came at the 30:26 mark when sophomore Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) scored on well placed assist from freshman Marianne Wood (Wakefield, Mass.)

Bentley would score three times during a ten-minute stretch to get the win. The first goal came at the 53:43 mark when Amanda Deppe scored off an assist from Kerry Kopec on a penalty corner. Two minutes later Liz Kopec tallied the game-winner, this time off an assist from Lindsey Harrington. Kayla Gogos scored the Falcons final goal, which came at 64:36.

Senior Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, NH) made 16 saves in taking the loss and Kristin Johnson made six saves in goal for Bentley.

Bryant will return to action Wednesday, October 20 when they host AIC. Game time is set for 4:00PM.
