Burns? Overtime Goal Leads Bryant to Victory

SMITHFIELD, RI ? Junior Maureen Burns (Derry, NH) scored the game-winning goal at 81:23 mark in the first overtime to give Bryant a 1-0 win over non-league opponent C.W. Post Sunday in a game played at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex.
Burns carried the ball down the field past the Pioneers' defense and blasted a shot past the C.W. Post goalkeeper and into the back of the net for the win.
Bryant (5-6) had two early goals called back but were able to pull out its second consecutive win.
Senior Kristen Patat (Portsmouth, NH) got the shutout win in goal for Bryant making six saves in the game.
Bryant, winners of three of its last four games, look to get back to the .500 mark when the Bulldogs return to action this Thursday, September 30, against Assumption at the Bryant Field Hockey Complex. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
