August 21, 2006

SMITHFIELD, RI ? In the preseason Northeast-10 coaches poll, the Bryant University Field Hockey team has been picked to finish in seventh place.

The Bulldogs finished the 2005 season in ninth place in the NE-10 with a record of 5-14 (4-12) and expect to improve significantly off last season's output.

This year's squad, led by co-captains Michaela Dwyer (Buskirk, NY) and Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.), is eager to return to the postseason as they did in 2003.

UMass Lowell received the most votes, while Bentley and Stonehill rounded out the top-three. Southern Connecticut, Merrimack, and St. Michael's were picked fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.

The Bulldogs open their season September 2nd against Bloomsburg, at noon, on Bryant University's brand new turf field.
