Laynie Sadler Named NE-10 Field Hockey Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. ? Bryant University senior forward Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. Sadler had a hand in each of the Bulldogs' goals this week, scoring twice and adding an assist. Sadler scored both goals in a 2-0 victory Thursday vs. Merrimack, and assisted on the Bulldogs' lone goal in a 1-0 victory Saturday vs. Assumption. Bryant's co-captain leads the Bulldogs with five goals and five assists (15 points) this season.


In addition, goaltender Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Freshman Player of the Week. Mawema stopped ten shots in a 1-0 victory Saturday vs. Assumption. She has started nine of ten games this season, posting a 1.80 goals-against-average and a .804 save percentage, along with two shutouts.

The Bulldogs (5-5, 5-3 NE-10) have won two straight and look for their third win in a row tonight when they host St. Anselm's at 7 p.m. at the Bryant Turf Complex.
