Tighe, Sadler Named Field Hockey All-Americans
November 20, 2006
SMITHFIELD, R.I.. - Bryant seniors Kristin Tighe (North Easton, Mass.) and Laynie Sadler (Rehoboth, Mass.) were selected to the 2006 All-American Second-Team after leading the Bulldogs to a fifth place finish in the Northeast-10 and a #10 ranking in the nation.
Tighe had four assists this year while starting all 21 games, with all of her assists coming as the key stopper on corner plays. Rising to the challenge of anchoring the left side, she was one of the most tenacious and consistent defenders in the NE-10.
Sadler, a Bulldog co-captain, was named second team all-conference by the Northeast-10 after leading Bryant with 16 goals and 12 assists. She was second in the conference in goals and points this season. She was also selected to the Northeast-10 All-Academic First Team.
Freshman Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) was
also named to the All-Rookie team. Johnson was second on the
Bulldogs with eight goals, including three in a 4-3 win over C.W.
Post.
