Bryant Field Hockey Offering Camps
Bulldog Field Hockey Camps consists of three different camp experiences for the field hockey enthusiast in your family! Starting in March, there will be a one day indoor clinic focusing on a typical Bryant Bulldog practice. Continuing into the summer months there will be a Friday Night League spanning from June through July focusing on skills and games. Concluding at the end of July there will be a two day Team Preseason Camp to prepare for the upcoming field hockey season! Each camp is priced separately but there is a Bulldog Package enabling you to sign up for all three!!

SOPHOMORE CAITLAN JOHNSON NAMED TO 2007 ECAC DIVISON II ALL-STAR SQUAD
SMITHFIELD, RI -- Sophomore midfielder Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, Mass.) capped off a stellar 2007 season Monday afternoon when she was named to the ECAC Division II All-Star team, becoming the Bryant University field hockey team's lone representative and one of 10 Northeast-10 Conference players to garner ECAC All-Star honors.

TRIO OF FIELD HOCKEY SENIORS NAMED 2007 DIVISION II ALL-STARS
SMITHFIELD, RI After a successful 2007 campaign that saw the Bryant University field hockey team go 12-8 overall and 12-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play, three Bulldog seniors were named to the 2007 NFHCA Division II Senior All-Star Game to be played Sat., Nov. 17 at the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. Seniors Caroline Carr (Wrentham, Mass.), Rebecca Lange (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Courtney OBrien (Tewksbury, Mass.) were among the 38 players 24 of them from the Northeast-10 Conference to be named 2007 All-Stars.

Two Bulldogs, senior forward Courtney OBrien (Tewsbury, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, Mass.), were named to the 2007 Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team, while sophomore goalkeeper Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) garnered All-Conference Second-Team honors.

SAINT ANSELM UPSETS BRYANT, 3-1, IN NORTHEAST-10 QUARTERFINALS
SMITHFIELD, RI The No. 9 Bryant University field hockey team was upset at home by Saint Anselm Wednesday night, losing 3-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals. Though the third-seeded Bulldogs outshot the sixth-seeded Hawks, 26-11, it was Saint Anselm who drew first blood, notching the games first goal off the stick of Laura Urko early in the 14th minute. The Hawks upped their lead to 2-0 less than two minutes later when Sam Rowe scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season off an Annie Heaney feed.

Bryant falls to St. Michael's, 1-0 on Senior Night
SMITHFIELD, RI The Bryant University field hockey program dropped its final regular-season matchup, 1-0, to St. Michaels College on Senior Night at Turf Field Saturday. Andrea Slaven scored the games only goal, a shot that beat senior starting goalkeeper Kasey Kortz (Louisville, Kent.) off a penalty corner in the 13th minute. It was Slavens team-leading 19th goal of the season.

Field Hockey Falls to Saint Anselm 3-0 Tuesday
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Saint Anselm junior Laura Urko (Attleboro, Mass.) scored two goals to help lead the Hawks to a 3-0 upset of No. 7 Bryant University in Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey. Urko tallied her third goal of the season at the 24:18 mark, assisted on by Lauren Chooljian (Hampstead, N.H.), for the early 1-0 Saint Anselm lead. Less than four minutes later Urko struck again on an unassisted score and the Hawks took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Bryant Field Hockey Defeats Stonehill 1-0 Saturday
EASTON, Mass. - Julie Kuchyt's goal late in the first half proved to be the difference as the eighth-ranked Bryant University field hockey team picked up a big 1-0 win over seventh-ranked Stonehill Saturday. The win moves the Bulldogs into third place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings and completes a season sweep of the Skyhawks. Bryant won the first meeting 2-1 in Smithfield, RI back on Sept. 15.

SMITHFIELD, RI Fifth-ranked UMass Lowell scored two second half goals to rally from a 2-1 halftime defeat No. 8 Bryant University 3-2 Tuesday night at the Turf Field Complex. Bryant, with the loss, drops to 8-5 overall on the year and 8-2 in the NE-10 while UMass Lowell improves to 10-2 overall and 9-1 in league play.

WALTHAM, Mass. The sixth-ranked Bryant field hockey team saw its six game win streak come to an end Saturday as ninth-ranked Bentley defeated the Bulldogs 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Bentley was led by Nicole Murphy's two goals in the game as the Bulldogs managed six shots on goal. The Bulldogs host Assumption Wednesday night.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The sixth-ranked Bryant University field hockey team scored two second half goals to remain undefeated in conference play as the Bulldogs held off American International, 3-2 Thursday night. Bryant improves to 7-2 overall and remains in first place in the NE-10 at 7-0 while AIC drops to 2-6 (2-6 NE-10). The Bulldogs travel to Bentley Saturday (12 pm).

SMITHFIELD, RI Winners of five straight including last Saturday's 2-1 win over second-ranked Stonehill at the Turf Complex, the accolades are starting to trickle in for the Bryant field hockey squad. On Monday, Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) and Julie Kuchyt (Hatfield, Mass.) were named Northeast-10 Goalkeeper and Freshman of the Week respectively. The Bulldogs travel to AIC (7 pm) on Thursday and Bentley this Saturday (12 pm).

SMITHFIELD, RI - Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.) and Courtney O'Brien (Tewksbury, Mass.) each had a goal and assist to help lead the tenth-ranked Bryant University field hockey team to a 2-1 win over second-ranked Stonehill Saturday night. The win, Bryant's fifth in-a-row, improves the Bulldogs' record to 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Bulldogs return to action Thursday at AIC.

Frantz's Hat Trick Leads #10 Bryant to 5-2 Victory over Merrimack
SMITHFIELD, RI. - Sophomore Kelly Frantz (Southbury, CT) posted her first collegiate hat trick as the Bryant field hockey team, ranked tenth nationally, defeated Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College 5-2 Monday night in the home opener at the Bryant Turf Complex. The Bulldogs came out flying, as Frantz scored two goals less than four minutes apart early in the first half. The first came off a penalty corner at 9:33, with Danielle Moody (Gorham, ME) and Julie Kuchyt (Hatfield, MA) notching the assists. Kuchyts assist was her first collegiate helper. Frantzs second tally was off a scramble in front of Warrior goaltender Amy Larrabee. Bryant (4-2, 4-0 NE-10) will continue its three-game homestand Wednesday when they take on Saint Anselm at 7 p.m.

#10 Field Hockey Avenges 2006 Playoff Defeat; Downs Saint Michaels 4-2
COLCHESTER, VT. The Bryant field hockey team, ranked tenth nationally, remained undefeated in the Northeast-10 Conference, after defeating Saint Michaels 4-2 Saturday afternoon. The victory avenges the 2-1 loss the Purple Knights handed the Bulldogs in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals last October. Bryant possessed the ball for most of the game, which led to a first half 1-0 lead, thanks to a penalty stroke goal by Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, MA.) with nine minutes to play in the first half. It was Johnsons first of the season. The Bulldogs (3-2, 3-0 NE-10) will host Merrimack College Monday night (7 p.m.) in the home opener at the Bryant Turf Complex.

NEW HAVEN, CT. The Bryant field hockey team, ranked 10th nationally, made it two wins in as many matches in the Northeast-10 after shutting out Southern Connecticut 2-0 Thursday night. Sophomore Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) notched her first shutout of the season, making eight saves in the victory. Freshman Brandie Simmonds (Shelburne, MA.) posted her first collegiate goal in the 29th minute, taking a feed from senior Shana Libman (Attleboro, MA.) down low and knocking it past Owl goaltender Lauren Zarrella. Bryant (2-2, 2-0 NE-10) will have a quick-turnaround to their next game, with a Saturday afternoon match at St. Michaels, in Colechester, VT. at 1 p.m.

Facing their second nationally-ranked Pennsylvania foe in as many days, the Bryant field hockey team dropped its second straight match, 5-3 to eighth-ranked Mansfield College Sunday afternoon. Senior Caroline Carr (Wrentham, MA) scored her second and third goals of the year in the losing cause. Bryant (1-2, 1-0 NE-10) will travel to New Haven, CT to take on Southern Connecticut Thursday night (7 p.m.).

Field Hockey Loses to #1 Bloomsburg 4-0
BLOOMSBURG, PA The Bryant field hockey team was shutout Saturday afternoon by the #1 team in Division II, Bloomsburg 4-0 in a non-conference game. It was the Bulldogs first loss of the 2007 season. The win was the 26th straight for the Huskies dating back to last season. Sophomore goalie Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) stopped 30 shots, keeping the Bulldogs in the contest throughout. Bryant (1-1, 1-0 NE-10) will take on #8 Mansfield Sunday at noon.

Field Hockey Wins Season Opener 3-2 at Assumption
WORCESTER, MA. The Bryant field hockey team kicked off its 2007 season, rebounding from a 1-0 deficit with three unanswered goals and held on for the 3-2 victory over Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference game Wednesday night. Trailing 1-0, the Bulldogs evened the tally at 19:16 as senior Shana Libman (Attleboro, MA) scored Bryants first goal of 2007, taking a pass from sophomore Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, MA) and firing it past Greyhound goaltender Kaitlin Burke. Five minutes into the second half, junior Jenna DeMello (Mohegan Lake, NY) posted her first career goal as she tipped in a shot from senior Courtney OBrien (Tewksbury, MA) to give the Bulldogs the lead. The Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0 NE-10) will head to Pennsylvania for the Labor Day weekend and will take on #1 Bloomsburg Saturday at noon and #8 Mansfield Sunday at noon. The home opener is September 10 against Merrimack at 7 p.m.

Field Hockey Picked to Finish Fourth in the Preseason Poll
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - After a fifth place finish in 2006, the Bryant Field Hockey team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Poll. The Bulldogs (11-10, 9-7 NE-10 in 2006) open their season Wednesday August 29 at Assumption College at 7 p.m. Their home opener is slated for September 10 against Merrimack at 7 p.m.

FALL SPORTS PRACTICE UNDERWAY
SMITHFIELD, RI Though the calendar may still say August, the Bryant campus has come alive over the last couple of days as several fall sports teams have already reported and underway with preseason practice. Women's soccer is currently in Italy for both sight-seeing and training against various club teams. Football, field hockey, and men's soccer reported to campus Tuesday and are currently underway with practices.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University field hockey team welcomes seven newcomers to the squad for the 2007 season. Their home opener is September 10th vs Merrimack at 7 p.m. at the Bulldog Turf Complex. The Bulldogs finished 2006 with a 11-10 (9-7 NE-10) record.

Bryant Names Mroz Assistant Field Hockey Coach
SMITHFIELD, RI Former UMass Lowell All-American Josselyn Mroz (Amesbury, Mass.) has been named Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Bryant University. The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Bill Smith and Field Hockey Coach Coni Fichera. A two-sport athlete at UMass Lowell, competing in both field hockey and softball, Mroz captained the River Hawks to the 2005 Division II Field Hockey National Championship as the team's top defender. The River Hawks captured three Northeast-10 Conference Championships during her four year career.

Sixth-Ranked Field Hockey Defeats AIC 3-2 Thursday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The sixth-ranked Bryant University field hockey team scored two second half goals to remain undefeated in conference play as the Bulldogs held off American International, 3-2 Thursday night. Bryant improves to 7-2 overall and remains in first place in the NE-10 at 7-0 while AIC drops to 2-6 (2-6 NE-10). The Bulldogs travel to Bentley Saturday (12 pm).

SMITHFIELD, RI Winners of five straight including last Saturday's 2-1 win over second-ranked Stonehill at the Turf Complex, the accolades are starting to trickle in for the Bryant field hockey squad. On Monday, Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) and Julie Kuchyt (Hatfield, Mass.) were named Northeast-10 Goalkeeper and Freshman of the Week respectively. The Bulldogs travel to AIC (7 pm) on Thursday and Bentley this Saturday (12 pm).

Field Hockey Defeats Second-Ranked Stonehill 2-1 Saturday Night
SMITHFIELD, RI - Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.) and Courtney O'Brien (Tewksbury, Mass.) each had a goal and assist to help lead the tenth-ranked Bryant University field hockey team to a 2-1 win over second-ranked Stonehill Saturday night. The win, Bryant's fifth in-a-row, improves the Bulldogs' record to 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Bulldogs return to action Thursday at AIC.

The Bulldogs (5-2, 5-0 NE-10) will host #2 Stonehill in a big conference matchup Saturday night (7 p.m.) at the Bryant Turf Complex.

Frantz's Hat Trick Leads #10 Bryant to 5-2 Victory over Merrimack
SMITHFIELD, RI. - Sophomore Kelly Frantz (Southbury, CT) posted her first collegiate hat trick as the Bryant field hockey team, ranked tenth nationally, defeated Northeast-10 Conference foe Merrimack College 5-2 Monday night in the home opener at the Bryant Turf Complex. The Bulldogs came out flying, as Frantz scored two goals less than four minutes apart early in the first half. The first came off a penalty corner at 9:33, with Danielle Moody (Gorham, ME) and Julie Kuchyt (Hatfield, MA) notching the assists. Kuchyts assist was her first collegiate helper. Frantzs second tally was off a scramble in front of Warrior goaltender Amy Larrabee. Bryant (4-2, 4-0 NE-10) will continue its three-game homestand Wednesday when they take on Saint Anselm at 7 p.m.

#10 Field Hockey Avenges 2006 Playoff Defeat; Downs Saint Michaels 4-2
COLCHESTER, VT. The Bryant field hockey team, ranked tenth nationally, remained undefeated in the Northeast-10 Conference, after defeating Saint Michaels 4-2 Saturday afternoon. The victory avenges the 2-1 loss the Purple Knights handed the Bulldogs in the Northeast-10 Quarterfinals last October. Bryant possessed the ball for most of the game, which led to a first half 1-0 lead, thanks to a penalty stroke goal by Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, MA.) with nine minutes to play in the first half. It was Johnsons first of the season. The Bulldogs (3-2, 3-0 NE-10) will host Merrimack College Monday night (7 p.m.) in the home opener at the Bryant Turf Complex.

#10 Field Hockey Shuts Out So. Connecticut 2-0 Thursday Night
NEW HAVEN, CT. The Bryant field hockey team, ranked 10th nationally, made it two wins in as many matches in the Northeast-10 after shutting out Southern Connecticut 2-0 Thursday night. Sophomore Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) notched her first shutout of the season, making eight saves in the victory. Freshman Brandie Simmonds (Shelburne, MA.) posted her first collegiate goal in the 29th minute, taking a feed from senior Shana Libman (Attleboro, MA.) down low and knocking it past Owl goaltender Lauren Zarrella. Bryant (2-2, 2-0 NE-10) will have a quick-turnaround to their next game, with a Saturday afternoon match at St. Michaels, in Colechester, VT. at 1 p.m.

Carr Scores Twice in 5-3 Loss to Mansfield
EASTON, PA. Facing their second nationally-ranked Pennsylvania foe in as many days, the Bryant field hockey team dropped its second straight match, 5-3 to eighth-ranked Mansfield College Sunday afternoon. Senior Caroline Carr (Wrentham, MA) scored her second and third goals of the year in the losing cause. Bryant (1-2, 1-0 NE-10) will travel to New Haven, CT to take on Southern Connecticut Thursday night (7 p.m.).

Field Hockey Loses to #1 Bloomsburg 4-0
BLOOMSBURG, PA The Bryant field hockey team was shutout Saturday afternoon by the #1 team in Division II, Bloomsburg 4-0 in a non-conference game. It was the Bulldogs first loss of the 2007 season. The win was the 26th straight for the Huskies dating back to last season. Sophomore goalie Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) stopped 30 shots, keeping the Bulldogs in the contest throughout. Bryant (1-1, 1-0 NE-10) will take on #8 Mansfield Sunday at noon.

Field Hockey Wins Season Opener 3-2 at Assumption
WORCESTER, MA. The Bryant field hockey team kicked off its 2007 season, rebounding from a 1-0 deficit with three unanswered goals and held on for the 3-2 victory over Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference game Wednesday night. Trailing 1-0, the Bulldogs evened the tally at 19:16 as senior Shana Libman (Attleboro, MA) scored Bryants first goal of 2007, taking a pass from sophomore Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, MA) and firing it past Greyhound goaltender Kaitlin Burke. Five minutes into the second half, junior Jenna DeMello (Mohegan Lake, NY) posted her first career goal as she tipped in a shot from senior Courtney OBrien (Tewksbury, MA) to give the Bulldogs the lead. The Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0 NE-10) will head to Pennsylvania for the Labor Day weekend and will take on #1 Bloomsburg Saturday at noon and #8 Mansfield Sunday at noon. The home opener is September 10 against Merrimack at 7 p.m.

Field Hockey Picked to Finish Fourth in the Preseason Poll
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - After a fifth place finish in 2006, the Bryant Field Hockey team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2007 Northeast-10 Conference Preseason Poll. The Bulldogs (11-10, 9-7 NE-10 in 2006) open their season Wednesday August 29 at Assumption College at 7 p.m. Their home opener is slated for September 10 against Merrimack at 7 p.m.

FALL SPORTS PRACTICE UNDERWAY
SMITHFIELD, RI Though the calendar may still say August, the Bryant campus has come alive over the last couple of days as several fall sports teams have already reported and underway with preseason practice. Women's soccer is currently in Italy for both sight-seeing and training against various club teams. Football, field hockey, and men's soccer reported to campus Tuesday and are currently underway with practices.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University field hockey team welcomes seven newcomers to the squad for the 2007 season. Their home opener is September 10th vs Merrimack at 7 p.m. at the Bulldog Turf Complex. The Bulldogs finished 2006 with a 11-10 (9-7 NE-10) record.

Bryant Names Mroz Assistant Field Hockey Coach
SMITHFIELD, RI Former UMass Lowell All-American Josselyn Mroz (Amesbury, Mass.) has been named Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Bryant University. The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Bill Smith and Field Hockey Coach Coni Fichera. A two-sport athlete at UMass Lowell, competing in both field hockey and softball, Mroz captained the River Hawks to the 2005 Division II Field Hockey National Championship as the team's top defender. The River Hawks captured three Northeast-10 Conference Championships during her four year career.
