#10 Bryant Field Hockey Defeats Saint Anselm 4-0

SMITHFIELD, RI. - Freshman Julie Kuchyt (Hatsfield, MA) scored her first three collegiate goals as the Bryant field hockey team, ranked tenth nationally, remained unbeaten in Northeast-10 Conference action after defeating Saint Anselm 4-0, Wednesday night at the Bulldog Turf Complex.

Kuchyt scored the first three goals of the match, with her first coming at 3:27 as she put home a Courtney O'Brien (Tewksbury, MA) shot for her first goal as a Bulldog.

At 20:09, the freshman posted her second off a penalty corner with Shana Libman (Attleboro, MA) registering the helper.

She notched the hat trick just 9:47 later off another penalty corner. This time, Kuchyt took a feed from Brandie Simmonds (Shelburne, MA) with Caitlan Johnson (Walpole, MA) getting the secondary assist.

Libman wrapped up the scoring at 67:03 scoring from ten feet out. Kelly Frantz (Southbury, CT) registered the assist.

That was more than enough for support for Kundayi Mawema (Hare, Zimbabwe) who earned her second shutout of the season. Mawema's best save of the game came in the tenth minute, as she sprawled across the net, using her blocker low to the ground to deny Karrie Muma of what appeared to be an easy goal.

The sophomore goaltender finished with six saves, improving her record to 5-2 on the season. Hawks goaltender Riley Haddock stopped 14 shots in the losing cause.

Libman led Bryant with seven shots-on-goal.

The Bulldogs (5-2, 5-0 NE-10) will host #2 Stonehill in a big conference matchup Saturday night (7 p.m.) at the Bryant Turf Complex.
