BRYANT UNIVERSITY NAMES JOSSELYN MROZ
ASSISTANT FIELD HOCKEY COACH

SMITHFIELD, RI - Former UMass Lowell All-American Josselyn Mroz (Amesbury, Mass.) has been named Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Bryant University.  The announcement was made today by Director of Athletics Bill Smith and Field Hockey Coach Coni Fichera.

A two-sport athlete at UMass Lowell, competing in both field hockey and softball, Mroz captained the River Hawks to the 2005 Division II Field Hockey National Championship as the team's top defender.  The River Hawks captured three Northeast-10 Conference Championships during her four year career.

"We are excited to have Joss join our Bulldog staff.  During her playing career she was one of the most tenacious defenders in the Conference, and I know she will bring that same passion to her coaching", said Fichera.

An Academic All-American as a freshman, Mroz was named First Team All-American by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) in 2005 and earned First Team All-Northeast-10 Conference honors.  She twice anchored the defense which school records for goals against average in a season, setting the record with a 1.12 GAA in 2003 and again in 2004 with a 1.08 GAA.

As a senior this past spring, Mroz played 52 games for the River Hawk softball team that won the NE-10 Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II regional.

A 2002 graduate of Amesbury High School, Mroz was a two-time Cape Ann League All-Star in leading Amesbury to the league title.  She was selected to participate in the Best of 60 All-Star game as a senior.
