SMITHFIELD, RI - Julie Kuchyt and Caroline Carr each scored a pair of goals to help lead the eighth-ranked Bryant University Field Hockey team to a 4-1 win over visiting Franklin Pierce Saturday night at the Turf Field Complex. The improves Bryant record to 10-5 overall and 10-2 in the Northeast-10.
The Bulldogs wasted little time getting on the board, scoring four minutes into the game on a penalty corner. After Kuchyt centered the ball to Kelly Frantz at the top of the circle, Frantz was able to slip the ball back to Kuchyt at the goal step and redirect it past Raven goalie Tevis Hannington.
Six minutes later, Carr made it 2-0 as Frantz fed the cutting senior near midfield and Carr was able to maneuver around Hannington who came out of the crease and the Bryant forward was able to easily beat the netminder for her first of two tallies on the night.
After Franklin Pierce was able to trim the lead in half with a goal of their own following a penalty corner, Kuchyt was there again, this time taking a pass from Carr and beating Hannington to make it 3-1 and the Bulldogs never looked back.
Bryant out-shot Franklin Pierce 9 to 2 in the game. The Bulldogs will host Southern Connecticut on Wednesday night starting at 7 pm.
