SMITHFIELD, RI   -   Ninth-ranked C.W. Post broke open a scoreless game with two goals midway through the second half and withstood a late Bryant rally to pull out a 2-1 non-conference win over the eighth-ranked Bulldogs.  With the win, C.W. Post improves to 10-1 on the season while Bryant drops to 7-4 overall.

The game featured a matchup of not only two of the top teams nationally, but within the region.  Bryant came into the game ranked No. 2 in this week's regional poll with the Pioneers at No. 3.  The first half backed up those rankings as both teams played to a scoreless tie.  Each team had five shots on goal but were turned away.

In the second, Amber Limanni put the visitors on the board with a goal on a penalty corner in the 45th minute.  Six minutes later, it was Limanni again netting a penalty corner goal, putting C.W. Post up 2-0 with 21 minutes left to go.

Bryant would answer as in the 67th minute as Caitlan Johnson cut the Pioneer lead in half with a goal on a penalty corner.  But that would be as close as the Bulldogs would get.  Kundayi Mawema made eight saves in goal for the Bulldogs as C.W. Post out-shot Bryant 11 to eight in the game.

The Bulldogs host UMass Lowell Tuesday night at 7 pm.
