BRYANT FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO ST. MICHAEL'S, 1-0, ON SENIOR NIGHT

 SENIOR CAROLINE CARR

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University field hockey program dropped its final regular-season matchup, 1-0, to St. Michael's College on Senior Night at Turf Field Saturday.

Andrea Slaven scored the game's only goal, a shot that beat senior starting goalkeeper Kasey Kortz (Louisville, Kent.) off a penalty corner in the 13th minute. It was Slaven's team-leading 19th goal of the season.

Senior Courtney O'Brien (Tewksbury, Mass.) led the Bulldogs with four of the team's eight shots, but saw nothing come of her efforts, thanks to the stifling Purple Knights defense. And while St. Michael's registered fewer shots (5), the Purple Knights managed to put four of them on goal.

Before the start of Saturday's game, Bryant honored its six-member senior class, Lisa Kennen (Waltham, Mass.), Rebecca Lange (Whitinsville, Mass.), Caroline Carr (Wrentham, Mass.), Shana Libman (Attleboro, Mass.), O'Brien and Kortz, as well as St. Michael's seven seniors.

The loss leaves Bryant at a 12-6 overall mark, going 12-4 in Northeast-10 Conference play. St. Michael's finishes the regular season at 8-10 overall with an even 8-8 mark in the NE-10.

Next up, the Bulldogs will host a quarterfinal matchup of the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs Wed., Oct. 24. The time and opponent are to be announced.
