BRYANT'S KUNDAYI MAWEMA NAMED NORTHEAST CONFERENCE SAAC STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University field hockey goalie Kundayi Mawema (Harare, Zimbabwe) was named the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Student-Athlete of the Year by the Northeast Conference. The league honor comes two months after the Rhode Island Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (RIAIAW) deemed the 2009 senior captain its Distinguished Athlete of the Year.

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University field hockey will host a one-day Bulldog Preseason Team Clinic on the campus of Bryant University Saturday, August 21. The clinic will be run by head coach Shaunessy Saucier and assistant coach Lauren Sickel and is open to middle school and high school age teams.

BRYANT FIELD HOCKEY INKS FIVE-MEMBER CLASS OF 2014
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University head field hockey coach Shaunessey Saucier is pleased to announce the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2010 season. The quintet of incoming recruits make up the Bulldog field hockey Class of 2014 and will join the Bryant field hockey team in 2010 for its third year of Division I action and first season of full NCAA eligibility. The five-member class includes an addition at every position.

For a program that has risen to success so quickly since its inception just 10 years ago, the Bryant University field hockey program will enter one of its most crucial and exciting seasons in 2009. After nine standout years at the top of Division II competition, the Bulldogs made the jump to Division I in 2008 and were met with intermittent success — something the program wasn’t quite used to. But now, in 2009, under the watchful eye of first-year head coach Shaunessy Saucier, the Bulldogs look to bounce back and take their highly competitive Division I schedule by storm.

Field Hockey Drops Opener 4-0 to Maine
HEMPSTEAD,NY – Maine scored three first half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Bryant University in women’s field hockey action Sunday afternoon at Hofstra University. Maine’s Jocelyn Mitchell scored the Black Bears’ first two goals, the first coming just five minutes into the contest. Mitchell’s second came 25 minutes later, scoring off a rebound from a penalty corner.
