Former University of Maine field hockey standout Shaunessy Saucier begins her first season as head coach of the Bryant University field hockey team in 2009.   

A 2005 graduate of Maine, Saucier was an assistant coach with the Bulldogs in 2008 and was an assistant field hockey coach with the Black Bears in 2007. While in Orono, she assisted in planning and organizing team practices, camps and clinics and played a major role with the recruitment of student-athletes, both nationally and internationally. In addition, Saucier oversaw the academic progress of the UMaine field hockey team that saw the Black Bears post the fourth-best team GPA in the country in 2007. Saucier also acted as site director and head coach of USA Field Hockey Futures Region IA and is currently the head coach for Futures Region 3F in Connecticut.

As a player at Maine from 2001-2005, Saucier was a two-time team captain, earning America East Honors, Commissioner's Honors and played in three conference championship games. A scholar-athlete all five years, she earned America East All-Academic team honors and NFHCA Academic team honors and was a two-time Gold Medallion winner in 2004 and 2005. Saucier played internationally in 2001 in the World Youth Games and was a national Futures Program participant from 1998-2001. 

In 1999, she was a participant of the Junior Olympics National Gold Medal Team.
