Bulldogs Rout Visiting Bloomfield 99-68 Thursday

SMITHFIELD, RI - Mario Correia (Brockton, Mass.) scored 24 points and John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) had 17 points plus seven rebounds, seven assists, and five steals to lead the Bryant men's basketball team to a 99-68 rout of visiting and previously undefeated Bloomfield here Thursday.
Bryant (6-3), which never trailed, shot out to a 20-8 lead early and led 27-12 with 12:15 left in the first half. The Bulldogs made 14 of their first 20 shots in the game, scoring a bulk in transition and off several turnovers by the Deacons.
A Chris Burns (Merrimack, N.H.) three-pointer from the left side gave Bryant its largest lead of the half, 40-20 with 7:00 left. Bryant finished the half shooting 55.6 percent from the field for the half in taking a 49-30 lead into the locker room at the break.
In the second half, it was more of the same as Bryant continued to hit easy open shots from inside and out. The Bulldogs scored 44 points in the paint and 22 off Bloomfield's 15 turnovers. Another three by Burns with 5:32 left made it 83-59 and Bryant would empty its bench down the stretch.
The Bulldogs made 11-of-26 three-pointers in the game as Burns finished with 13 points and John Fogarty (Smithfield, RI) scored 10 off the bench.
Bloomfield (9-1) came into the game undefeated in its first nine games but had trouble all night against the Bulldogs. After combining for 52 points Wednesday vs. Franklin Pierce, the Bloomfield backcourt of Andre Dabney and Daniel Terrell had 12 on 5-of-17 shooting. Javier Salson had 19 to lead the visitors shot finished shooting 35.1 percent and one- of-16 from three-point range.
Bryant will return to Northeast-10 Conference play on Monday at Assumption.
