100th Game Saturday for Coach Good
BULLDOGS PULL OUT EXCITING 77-72 WIN OVER SOUTHERN N.H. SATURDAY
Mario Correia scored 22 points and Mike Williams had 18 as the Bryant men's basketball team won its eighth-straight game Saturday, defeating Southern N.H. 76-72 before 1,015 Saturday afternoon. Though it was only a regular-season game, there was certainly a playoff-like atmosphere as both teams played well throughout the game. In all, there were 20 lead changes and seven ties throughout the afternoon. With Bryant holding a slim, 69-68 lead with under two minutes remaining, Southern New Hampshire's Allen Gould hit a jumper in the lane to put the Penmen up 70-69 with 46.1 seconds left. On Bryant's next possession, guard John Williams was fouled and proceeded to make both free throws to put Bryant back on top 71-70 with 30.1 seconds left. Southern N.H. had a chance to regain the lead but guard John Baiano stepped on the baseline, turning the ball over to the Bulldogs with 20.1 seconds left. Bryant would make 3 of 4 free throws down the stretch to help seal the victory. It was the third game this season that Bryant has come back to win after trailing at the half. The Bulldogs trailed, 37-36 at the half. The Penmen shot the ball well, finishing the game shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and scoring 24 points in the paint. SNHU also out-rebounded the Bulldogs 34 to 25, but turned the ball over 23 times in the game.
LOOKING AT THE DOLPHINS
Le Moyne is coming off an 86-84 double overtime loss on the road at Saint Michael’s as three Dolphins scored 18 points each in the game but James Sorentine’s 25 points (7 three’s) helped lead SMC. Trent Morgan, Corey Smith, and Matt Cooper each had 18 while Jason Holmes had 14 for Le Moyne. This will be the first meeting between Bryant and Le Moyne. Last year, the two squad split the regular season matchup - both winning at home, though the Bulldogs won the rubber match, 72-65 in the second round of the NE-10 tourney.
MIKE WILLIAMS NEEDS MOVES INTO THIRD ALL-TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY
With his eight rebounds on Saturday vs. Southern N.H., senior Mike Williams moved into third place all-time with 873 career rebounds at Bryant. Williams passed former teammate Jason Noel (868) for third and only trails Ernie DeWitt’s all-time mark of 1,036 rebounds. Dave Sorafine is second with 1,004. An Academic All-American nominee for 2005, Williams, with over 1,000 career points, is also the owner of Bryant’s school career blocks (261) and single season blocks (90) records, has 865 career rebounds (3rd all-time).
STREAKING
Some key numbers to look at during Bryant’s eight-game win streak: The Bulldogs are averaging 76 ppg and allowing just 59.5 ... Bryant has made 61 three’s (8 per game), opponents just 42 (5 per game) ... Bryant has 94 offensive rebounds (Danny Hammond has 24 offensive boards during the run).
WILLIAMS ON THE OUTSIDE
Despite a tough outing vs. UMass Lowell (7 points), junior point guard John Williams came up big with 16 points including four key free throws in the final minute to help Bryant past Southern N.H. Williams, who has 69 three’s this season (a career-best), is just 18 three’s shy of the school single-season record of 87 held by Romuald Augustin last year.

SENIOR DAY COMING UP
With only two more home games following today’s tilt with Franklin Pierce, Bryant will honor seniors Jarett Love (Roselle, N.J.), Josh Longstaff (Portland, Maine), Mike Niedzwiecki (Sutton, Mass.), Mario Correia (Brockton, Mass.), Cullen McCarthy (Mansfield, Mass.), and Mike Williams (Ellington, Conn.) who will be playing for the final time at home. Mike Williams, a graduate who was granted a medical redshirt, is the only player on the Bryant roster to play for former coach Ed Reilly.
