Mike Williams Leads Bryant to 91-70 Win Over Assumption

SMITHFIELD, RI -- Mike Williams (Ellington, Conn.) scored 17 points and tied a career-high with five assists to help lead the Bryant men's basketball team to a 91-70 win over Assumption College here Saturday at the Chace Athletic Center. The win snaps a three-game losing skid for Bryant (8-6, 4-6 Northeast-10) and also completes a season sweep over the Greyhounds this season. Bryant won 90-68 in the first meeting back on Jan. 3 in Worcester.

Bryant led 48-39 at the half and opened the second half outscoring the visitors 11 to 4 to take a commanding, 61-43 lead with 16:03 left, and never looked back. Mike Williams had one of his best games this season for the Bulldogs as the senior made six of seven from the floor to go with seven rebounds, three steals, and pair of blocks in 31 minutes. More importantly, Williams held Assumption senior center Brian Robinson to just four points in 12 minutes. Robinson entered the game averaging 17.6 ppg this season.


Elijah Bland led Assumption (2-13, 0-10 NE-10) with 24 points while Mike Foti had 10. John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) and Nathaniel Sudlow (Bronx, N.Y.) each had 17 points for Bryant while sophomore Chris Burns (Merrimack, N.H.) had 16 points off the bench for the Bulldogs. Bryant shot 49.2 percent from the floor in the game and were 22 for 32 at the foul line.

Bryant will travel to American International on Monday for a 7:30 p.m. game.
