Burns? 18 off Bench Leads Bryant to Win

ALBANY, NY – Chris Burns ( Merrimack, NH) came off the bench to score a game-high 18 points including 4-of-7 from three-point range to lead Bryant to a 73-62 win against Northeast-10 Conference foe Saint Rose today in game played in Albany.
To go with Burns’ 18 three other Bulldogs joined him in double figures as Mario Corriea (Brockton, Mass.) scored 17, Nathaniel Sudlow (Brooklyn, NY) scored 11, and Dan Hammond (Brunswick, ME) scored 10.
The beginning of the first half saw both teams trade baskets (10-6, 6-6 NE-10) until the Bulldogs used an 8-0 run to make the score 14-6 with 12:34 remaining. From there Saint Rose (14-5, 11-3 NE-10) would close to 19-16 with eight minutes left. The Bulldogs would close the half on a 15-6 run to take a 36-22 halftime lead. The run included two Sudlow lay-ups to go with a pair of free-throws and a lay-up from Corriea.
Bryant would enjoy its biggest lead early on in the second half when Hammond hit a lay-up three minutes in to give the Bulldogs an 18 lead. The Golden Knights would then trim to lead to two with six minute remaining. Bryant would then use a 7-0 run to expand their lead to nine using a Burns three-pointer and lay-ups from Hammond and Corriea. Saint Rose would get no closer as Bryant would take home the 73-62 win.
Bryant would finish the game shooting 27-of-69 (.39 percent) from the field and 12-of-17 (71 percent) from the free-throw line. The Golden Knights were lead by Adam McGuire’s 12 points.
Bryant will return to action Tuesday, January 25, 2005 when they host Pace University at the Chace Athletic Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30PM in Smithfield.
