Falcons Snap Bryant's Five-Game Win Streak, 76-69 Thursday
January 6, 2005
SMITHFIELD, RI - Sean Cooke (East Windsor, N.J.) scored a game-high 20 points and Tim Forbes (Attleboro, Mass.) scored all of his 16 points in the second half as 9th-ranked Bentley College pulled away late for a 76-69 win over Bryant University here at the Chace Athletic Center Thursday night. Bentley improves to 13-2 overall and remains undefeated in Northeast-10 Conference play at 7-0.
Bryant (7-4, 3-4), saw its five-game win streak snapped as the Bulldogs were held to just 37.3 percent shooting. Bentley held the Bulldogs to without a single point in the final 2:43. A Mike Williams basket in the lane helped Bryant pull even with the Falcons at, 69-69, but that would be all the points for the Bulldogs from there as Bentley closed out the game with a 7-0 run.
Bryant, led by John Williams' (Springfield, Mass.) 18 points, made just 4 of 16 from three-point range, all coming in the first half as the Bulldogs took a 37-36 lead into the locker room at the half. Mike Williams (Ellington, Conn.) had 14 points and seven rebounds while Mario Correia (Brockton, Mass.) added for the Bulldogs.
Forbes finished the night 6 for 11 shooting from the floor and had four assists. Cooke was red-hot from the outside, making four of Bentley's 11 three-point field goals on the evening.
Bryant will travel to Stonehill College Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. game while Bentley will host Assumption this Saturday.
