Men's Hoops Rolls Past NJIT Wednesday

SMITHFIELD, RI - Mario Correia (Brockton, Mass.) and Nathaniel Sudlow (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each scored 16 points to help lead the Bryant men's basketball team to a 78-39 win over NJIT at the Bryant Comfort Suites Holiday Classic Wednesday.
The Bulldogs held NJIT to just 25.0 shooting for the game including 2 of 16 from three-point range. The 39 points by NJIT is the fewest points allowed by a Bryant team in ten seasons (73-37 win over Endicott College on Dec. 10, 1994.)
The Bulldogs led 32-17 at the half and held the visiting Highlanders to just two field goals in the final nine minutes to earn the victory. Guard John Williams (Springfield, Mass.) had 15 points as the Bulldogs shot 43.8 percent from the floor and out-rebounded NJIT 49-37. Mike Williams (Ellington, Conn.) had 9 points and 11 rebounds as Bryant improved to 5-3 on the season.
NJIT (5-6) was led by Brett Johnson's 11 points. The Bryant Holiday tournament will continue Thursday with Frankin Pierce taking on NJIT at 5 p.m. and Bryant hosting Bloomfield at 7 p.m.
BLOOMFIELD 89, FRANKLIN PIERCE 81
SMITHFIELD, RI - Bloomfield's back-court duo of Andre Dabney and Daniel Terrell combined for 52 points as the visiting Deacons stayed undefeated with an 89-81 win over Franklin Pierce in first day action at the Bryant Comfort Suites Holiday Classic here Wednesday. With the win, Bloomfield improves to 9-0 while Franklin Pierce falls to 2-6. Bloomfield led 40-38 at the half and used 53.1 percent shooting from the floor in the second half to roll to the win. Dabney had 30 points on 10 of 22 shooting while Terrell finished with 22 to go with 6 assists in the game. The Deacons had a hard time stopping Franklin Pierce center Justin Powell who torched Bloomfield for 22 points on 8 of 17 shooting and 9 rebounds. Mitchell Johnson also added 20 points - including six 3-pointers.
