QUICKLY
The Bryant University men¹s basketball team opens its 2005-06 season with a trip to Hartford to face the UConn Huskies this Thursday at 7 pm. It will be nearly nine months since the Bulldogs last outing in the NCAA Division II Championship game in Grand Forks, North Dakota, ending with a 63-58 loss to Virginia Union in the final, concluding the best season in school history as the national finalist. Under the direction of fifth-year coach Max Good (72-52 at Bryant / 181-190 overall), the Bulldogs will lose three starters from last year¹s team including 6-foot-11 center Mike Williams who is currently playing professionally in Italy and guard Mario Correia who is beginning his first year as an assistant coach. The Bulldogs will look to the leadership of standout guard John Williams who returns for his senior season running the Bulldog offense. Williams was 20th nationally in scoring with 20.7 ppg and ninth with 3.6 three-point field goals made per game.

SO HOW DO THE BULLDOGS LOOK?
Bryant welcomes back three starters and six letterwinners from last year's squad, plus the addition of six newcomers to the lineup this season. Starters John Williams, Nathaniel Sudlow, and Dan Hammond return with plenty of game experience among the trio while Jon Ezeokoli, John Fogarty, Kiley Lynch and Mike Rocco have limited, but valuable experience in the lineup. While the Bulldogs played to its height advantage against most of the Division II teams they faced last season, the team will look to pick up the tempo this year with the addition of freshman guard Orlando Baeza (Palmdale, Calif), freshman forward Andrew Lyell (Northfield Mt. Herman Prep) and freshman forward Jarrenn Wright (Cincinatti, OH).

2004-05 By the Numbers:
Wins - 25
Scoring - 75.1 (103rd nationally)
Scoring Defense - 63.9 (22nd nationally)
3FG - 272 (46th with 8.0 3FG/game)
FG%  - .462 (12th nationally)

PLENTY OF OPEN SPOTS FOR THE BULLDOGS
Bryant must face the tall task of replacing some key figures from last year¹s squad - including two of the team¹s top three scorers. The big void will be evident in the middle where 6-foot-11 Mike Williams of Ellington, Conn., graduates as the school¹s all-time shot blocker (301) and third all-time for career rebounds (987). He averaged 10.6 ppg last year and 7.9 boards. Swing guard Mario Correia, now an assistant coach, was instrumental in the team¹s playoff run and finished second on the team in scoring with 13.8 ppg and 5.1 rebounds a game.
