Bryant's Nick Pontes Named Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

PONTES TABBED NE-10 FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

EASTON, Mass. - Bryant University men's basketball freshman Nick Pontes (New Bedford, MA) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Freshman of the Week after helping Bryant to three wins during the holiday break.  The announcement was made Tuesday by the conference office.

Pontes, a 6-foot-6 freshman from New Bedford, MA averaged 12.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds last week. He tallied a career-high 18 points on 8 of 9 shooting and grabbed five rebounds in the team's win over Bloomfield. He followed with 10 points and nine boards in the team's upset win over No. 12 Holy Family.

On Monday, Pontes had 10 points and blocked two shots in the team's win over Assumption.

This season, Pontes is averaging 8.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg for the Bulldogs who take an 8-3 record into this Thursday's showdown at Bentley (7:30 pm).
