Bryant All-American John Williams To Play in Portsmouth Invitational Tournament April 5-8

Senior Guard Invited to Portsmouth Invitational Tournament

     Bryant University senior guard John Williams has been invited to participate in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Portsmouth, Virginia.  Williams was one of 64 college seniors selected to participate in the 54th annual tournament which will take place April 5-8, 2006.  He is the only Division II player to be selected to the camp, joining the likes of Pittsburgh's Carl Krauser, Georgetown's Brandon Bowman, URI's Dawan Robinson, Duke's Sean Dockery, UConn's Rashad Anderson, North Carolina's David Noel among others. 

     The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which will draw more than 200 representatives from all 30 N.B.A. teams, is the only post-season event prior to the N.B.A. Draft Camp in Orlando, Florida held in June.   

      Williams, the co-Player of the Year in the Northeast-10 Conference, averaged 20.3 points per game and finished his career fourth all-time at Bryant with 1,754 career points and first all0time with 323 career three-pointers.  His 3.7 three-point field goals per game average was the fifth-best in the nation while his 44.7 three-point field goal percentage was 10th and 88.1 free throw percentage 11th in the country in Division II.
