Men's Basketball Falls to UNLV Friday Night, 81-63

LAS VEGAS - (11/11/05) John Williams scored 15 points while Chris Burns added 13 as the Bryant University basketball team dropped an 81-63 decision to UNLV Friday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.  Bryant made nine three's in the game.  The Bulldogs host Adelphi in the season opener Tuesday at the Chace Athletic Center (7 pm).

Bryant got off to a great start, as Dan Hammond drained a three from the left side to put the Bulldogs up 5-2 early and after a layup underneath by Nick Pontes, Bryant held a 12-6 advantage with 16:02 left in the first half.

Bryant held onto a 15-8 lead following a three from Williams, but the Rebels started to get hot offensively and tied the game 17-17 on a pair of free throws by Jo'Van Adams with 9:39 left before halftime.

From there the Rebels would use a 9-2 run to take a 26-19 lead and never looked back. Leading 41-29 at the half, UNLV would continue to apply tough defensive pressure and outscored the Bulldogs 50 to 20 in the paint to cruise to the win.

Louis Amundson led UNLV with 14 points and six rebounds in just 15 minutes of action as the Rebels outscored Bryant 40-34 in the second half.

Jon Ezeokoli had 9 points and five rebounds while Pontes finished with six points and two rebounds plus a pair of blocks in the game. Freshman Jerrann Wright had six points in 10 minutes of action.
