Men's Basketball To Face Syracuse and UConn in Preseason Exhibitions

MEN'S BASKETBALL TO FACE SYRACUSE AND UCONN

2006-07 Bryant Men's Basketball Schedule

SMITHFIELD, RI -  For the third year in-a-row, the Bryant University men's basketball program will play the University of Connecticut in an exhibition game as the 2006-07 basketball schedule has been finalized.  In addition to what has become an annual trek to the Hartford Civic Center for the Bulldogs, Bryant will open the season with an exhibition game at Syracuse University on November 1.

Since the NCAA adopted a rule in 2004 prohibiting Division I schools from scheduling exhibition games against AAU programs such as EA Sports and Nike Elite, Bryant has lined its preseason schedule with the likes of national powerhouse programs such as UConn, Maryland, UNLV, and now Syracuse University in preparation for the regular season.

This year, the Bulldogs will travel to the Carrier Dome on Wednesday, Nov. 1 and follow with a trip to the Hartford Civic Center to face UConn the following Monday, November 6.  UConn defeated Bryant 90-65 in 2004 and 109-62 in 2005.  Both games were played at the Civic Center.

UConn went 30-4 a year ago and reached the NCAA regional final while Syracuse posted a 23-12 record including the 2006 BIG EAST Tournament Championship.

Bryant, under the direction of seventh-year coach Max Good, posted a 21-10 overall record and qualified for the NCAA Championship for the third year in-a-row.  A total of 13 home games highlight the 2006-07 schedule starting with a home match up with American International on Saturday, November 18 at the Chace Athletic Center.

Bryant will open the 2006-07 season with a road contest at Philadelphia University No. 15 in the first of just two non-conference games this season.  The Bulldogs will travel to Long Island in December to face C.W. Post.

In December, the Bulldogs will host the annual Comfort Suites Holiday tournament with Le Moyne and Bridgeport scheduled for the two-day tournament, Dec. 29-30.
