MEN'S BASKETBALL HOSTS UMASS LOWELL SATURDAY

BRYANT UPDATE
The Bryant men's basketball team hosts UMass Lowell Saturday
afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference game at the Chace Athletic
Center. This will be the first of two meetings this year between
the Bulldogs and River Hawks. Bryant won both meetings last
year, 69-66 in Lowell and 66-55 in Smithfield, RI.
* Bryant will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday's tough 69-66 loss at Assumption ollege. The Bulldogs led for much of the game before a 14-1 run midway through the second half put the hosts up for the first time in the game. Chris Birrell had 15 points in the first half and finished with 19 to lead all scorers. The sophomore had two three-point attempts in the final seconds blocked as the Greyhounds held on for the win.
* UMass Lowell is 1-5 against the Bulldogs in the last six meetings but hold an 18-17 all-time series lead. Bryant and UMass Lowell have met 10 times over the past three seasons including an NCAA first round game in 2006, won by the River Hawks 77-67 in Easton, Mass. The River Hawks are led by guard Dashon Harper's 13 ppg while Victor Colon is second with 11.7 ppg. UMass Lowell is coming off its first win of the season Wednesday, defeating Stonehill, 76-64 in Lowell. Colon scored a career-high 20 points.

Following Saturday's game with UMass Lowell, the Bulldogs
will play host to top-ranked and preseason conference favorite
Bentley College on Tuesday night at the Chace Athletic Center (7:30
pm). The Falcons defeated Bryant four times last year
including once in the NE-10 tournament and in the NCAA egional
Final. Bentley's last visit to Smithfield, RI saw the
Falcons pull out a dramatic 78-76 win before a sold-out (2,660)
Chace Center. Bentley closed out the game with a 26-6 run to pull
out the win.
