BRYANT UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES 2009-10 MEN'S BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
SMITHFIELD, RI - Eleven home dates including a visit from in-state rival Brown University highlight the 2009-10 Bryant University men's basketball schedule as the Bulldogs prepare for their second year competing at the Division I level.
Bryant, under the direction of second-year coach Tim
O'Shea, will open the season against Providence College on
Nov. 13 as part of the Friars' three-day tournament at the Dunkin'
Donuts Center. After the PC game, Bryant will face Mercer on
Saturday, Nov. 14 and close out the tournament against Patriot
League member Bucknell on Nov. 15.
Following a trip to Harvard on Nov. 20, the Bulldogs return open the home schedule n Nov. 25 when the Brown University Bears visit the Chace Athletic Center. Bryant was 4-7 at home last year including a win over Yale.
The 2009-10 non-conference schedule, while not quite as grueling as last year's, will feature return trips to Army and Yale followed by trips to Boston College, St. John's, Indiana University and Cornell.
While Bryant will not be eligible for participation in the conference postseason tournament until 2012-13, Bryant will be included in the NEC standings and players will be eligible for weekly NEC honors starting this season. This year is the second of the mandatory four-year transition for Bryant's move to official Division I status.
Bryant went 6-8 against NEC opponents last year, earning wins over Quinnipiac (twice), Saint Francis (PA), Fairleigh Dickinson, Long Island and Monmouth.
