The trip to Hamden, Conn., didn’t start well for the Bryant men’s basketball team but it sure did end sweetly.As the team’s bus hurtled down Route 95 on Thursday, a noise grew louder. Soon the bus pulled into a mall in New London and promptly died. A replacement was located but it could meet the team only after a scheduled pit stop at Foxwoods.

NEW YORK -- The Bryant University men's basketball team hits the road to unfriendly territory as the Bulldogs travel to New York City to take on Columbia Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. tipoff. This is the second of back-to-back games against Ivy League opponents for the Black and Gold, who hosted Yale Wednesday night, and the third of four contests against the Ancient Eight this season.

SMITHFIELD — Frank Dobbs is back on the college basketball scene in Rhode Island, just as he was in the 1990s. The second time is a bit different than the first. This time, he is a player, not a coach.
The first Frank Dobbs, known to most as “Happy,” was a star at Villanova who was the head coach at Brown from 1991-99. Often times while he was guiding the Bears, halftime promotions would include contests in which one little kid, in particular, liked to take part.
