Kevin Kurbec enters his fourth season at Bryant University as an assistant coach under Tim O’Shea. Kurbec’s primary duties at Bryant include individual guard development, recruiting and opponent scouting. Kurbec also serves as Director of the Bryant University Team Camp each summer.
Prior to arriving in Smithfield, R.I., Kurbec spent 10 seasons at Providence College working under head coach Tim Welsh in various capacities. From 2005-08, he served as the Friars’ Director of Basketball Operations, where his primary duties included monitoring players’ academic progress, organizing on-campus recruiting efforts, serving as a liason between the Friar program and the community, organizing team travel and overseeing day-to-day operations. Kurbec also served as the Director of the Providence College Summer Basketball Camps, which brought over 1200 kids to campus each summer.
Prior to being named Director of Ops, Kurbec was a graduate assistant at PC from 2002-05. In that position, the Smithfield, R.I. native was responsible for coordinating the Friars’ film exchange program, breaking down game and practice film for scouting and internal use and overseeing a staff of six student managers.
A 2002 graduate of Providence College, Kurbec earned his MBA from PC in 2004. As an undergrad, he served as the Friars’ team manager from 1998-02. Kurbec has also worked numerous summer camps, including Eastern Invitational Camp in 2004 and 2005. He is a 1998 graduate of Smithfield (RI) High School.
Kevin and his wife, Melissa, a 2002 Bryant graduate, reside in Cumberland, R.I. with their daughter, Kyra, born in June of 2009.
