Men's Golf Looking for 19th Conference Title

MARCELLUS, N.Y. - Dan Falcucci fired a one-under par 71 to help Bryant University to a 10-stroke lead after the opening round of the 2004 Northeast-10 Conference Men's Golf Championship. Falcucci carded the only round under par to take the opening round lead at the 6,700-yard, par 72 Links at Sunset Ridge in Marcellus, N.Y.
Four Bryant golfers rank among the top ten individual rounds. Jeremy Hall sits in fifth place with a two-over 74, while Dave Falcucci and Brandon Smith are four strokes off the lead at 75.
Jeff Furtado shot an even-par 72 to help Assumption to second place. Le Moyne's Mike Lesch (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) also shot a 72 to tie Furtado for the second spot. UMass Lowell's Tom LeMond is two strokes off the lead.
Dan Falcucci has finished second at the conference championship two times, including last season. The Bulldogs have won the league championship 19 of the 23 times it has been held. Teams tee off tomorrow morning starting at 7:34 a.m. in the final day of action.
