Bulldogs Complete Solid Third Round

SAVANNAH, GA -- The Bryant University men's golf team is currently in 18th place after three rounds of the 2005 NCAA Golf Championships at the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort. The Bulldogs shot a team score of 301 in round two and improved by a stroke to finish with a 300 in the third round - both of which were played Thursday due to weather delays Wednesday.
The Bulldogs were led by the strong play of junior Brenden
Smith (North Attleboro,
Mass.) who finished with a one
over par for the day with a score of 72. Smith opened the day
with birdies at No. 2 and No. 5 and was bogey-free until the ninth
but still managed to hit the turn one under through the front nine.
Mike Philipp (Bristol, Conn.), competing in his first tournament, played well through the first nine, highlighted by an eagle at on the par-4 ninth hole. The freshman headed for the clubhouse with a score of 77 for the day.
Dave Falcucci (Northboro, Mass.) was just two over for round three, carding a 73. He had just two bogeys on the day. Dan Falcucci (Northboro, Mass.) shot a 78 Thursday while teammate Jim O'Connell (Troy, N.Y.) close out the day with a 79 (just two over on the back nine).
