Men's Golf Finishes 19th at NCAA Championships
SAVANNAH, GA -- The Bryant University men's golf team closed out
the 2005 NCAA Golf Championships with a 19th-place finish following
final day action Friday afternoon at the Westin Savannah Harbor
Resort. The Bulldogs shot a team score of 311 Friday for a total
score of 1,218 - placing them just six strokes behind Indiana
University (Pa.) which finished 18th with a score of
1,212.
The Bulldogs were led by seniors Dan and
David Falcucci
(Northboro,
Mass.) who both played well in
the final round of their collegiate careers on Friday.
Each carded a 75 to finish 18 over for the tournament. Both
Falcucci's conclude their careers having competed in four-straight
NCAA tournaments and were recently named All-Region by the GCAA and
Cleveland Golf Scholar Athletes for 2005.
Junior Jim O'Connell
(Troy,
N.Y.) shot a 79 Friday who
closed out the final three rounds with scores of 79 in each
round. Freshman Mike Philipp
(Bristol,
Conn.) closed out his first NCAA
tournament by scoring an 82 on Friday, one day after shooting a 77
during the third round. Junior Brenden Smith
(North Attleboro, Mass)
shot an 86 to finish plus 23 for the tournament.
The Bulldogs close out another successful
year in 2005, capturing the team's fourth-straight NCAA regional
championship and the school's 17th berth in the NCAA
Finals.
