Men's Golf Captures New England Championships Earning a Two-Stroke Win Over Conference Champ Bentley

Bryant Men's Golf Captures First Place at New England Championships

RESULTS 

BREWSTER, MASS. - The Bryant University men's golf team captured the Division II title at the 2006 72nd annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Championships Tuesday with a two-round team score of 630.  The event attracted 215 golfers to The Captains Golf Course and its 36-hole layout on Cape Cod.   

The Bulldogs edged Bentley College, the Northeast-10 Conference Champions this fall, by two strokes 630-632 as Mike Philipp finished in a tie for 45th overall individually with a two-day score of 157.  Philipp carded a 79 on Tuesday to finish 13 over for the round.  

Scott Congdon placed in a tie for 56th with a two-day score of 158 while Brenden Smith was tied for 68 at 160.  Teammates Greg McKay and Jason Thresher also finished with a 160 with McKay scoring a 76 Tuesday.
