CACCIA TAKES TOP SPOT AT 2008 LE MOYNE INVITATIONAL; LEADS BULLDOGS TO TIE FOR SECOND PLACE

MARCELLUS, NY -- Bryant University senior Nick Caccia (Riverside, RI) took first-place honors this weekend at the Le Moyne Invitational, finishing the two-day tournament with a 144 for the course to lead the Bulldogs to a second-place finish at the Links at Sunset Ridge April 12 and 13.

Caccia shot three over par for a 75 after Day 1 and entered Sunday's play in a three-way tie for sixth place. But after shooting three under par (69) to be the low man on Day 2, the senior came in with the lowest overall score, his 144 topping the second-place finisher by one stroke.

Bulldog freshman Eric Tankonow (Worcester, Mass.) was the next finisher for Bryant with a 153, while Scott Congdon (Foxboro, Mass.) and Mike Philipp (Bristol, Conn.) finished with a 154 and 155, respectively.

The Bulldogs as a team finished tied for second place with Pace, with a two-day total of 605. St. Thomas Aquinas earned the tournament's top finish, shooting a 601.

Bryant returns to the course this weekend, April 18 and 19 at the Mount Saint Mary's Invitational.
