BRYANT GOLF FINISHES FIFTH AT LONNIE BARTON MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL
BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Bryant University Golf team made a 17-stroke improvement from day one of the Lonnie Barton Memorial, shooting 311 as a team in the second day of play Tuesday to finish in a tie for fifth place in the tournament with Long Island University. Longwood University finished in first, shooting a two-day total of 598 and winning the tournament by 12-strokes. Longwood owned the top-two individual performances, as Scoot Buhrman and Adam Webb finished in first and second place respectively, with Buhrman shooting one-under par and Webb three-over.
The Bulldogs faced a 12-stroke deficit against LIU for fifth place coming into the day, but Bryant saw each one of its golfers improve on their day one performances. The team finished shooting a 639 for the two days after shooting a 328 on day one. Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) led the charge, shooting a 76 on day two to jump from 18th to 11th place overall. Alex Daley (Hudson, Mass.) made the biggest leap, shooting six-strokes better than he did on the first day with a 77 to come in 19th. Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished with a 79, while Scott Congdon (Foxboro, Mass.) and Eric Tankanow (Worcester, Mass.) each made five-stroke improvements to shoot a 79 and 84 respectively.
The Bulldogs will be back on the course on March 21st when they take part in the George Washington Invitational.
