MEN'S GOLF STANDS IN 7TH AFTER DAY 1 AT FAIRFIELD INVITATIONAL
FAIRFIELD, CONN- Sophomore Alex Daley (Hudson, Mass.) shot a 75, finishing three-over par for the day and putting him in a day for eighth place individually, as he led the Bryant men's golf team to a seventh place standing out of ten teams after Day 1 at the Fairfield Spring Invitational on Friday. Bryant shot a 323 as a team, tying them with the University of Toronto, while Jackson State leads the team competition with a 301.
While Daley's 75 was the top score for Bryant, Scott Congdon (Foxboro, Mass.) also shot well with his nine-over par, 81, tying him for the 28th spot. Eric Tankanow (Worcester, Mass.) shot an 83, using the par-five holes to his advantage, as he scored a tournament best three-under for the day on par-fives. Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) and Mike Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) rounded out the scoring, shooting an 84 and 88 respectively.
Logan Watts of Lewis University leads the individual competition after shooting a four-under par 68, putting him four strokes up going into day two.
Bryant finishes play on Saturday before heading to the Long Island Invitational on Monday.
