MEN'S GOLF FINISHES FIRST ROUND OF PLAY AT NEC CHAMPIONSHIPS FRIDAY
ChampionsGate, Fla. - Playing in their first ever Northeast Conference Championship tournament, the Bryant University golf team finished a great first round on Friday, shooting a 295 as a team at ChampionsGate Golf Club in ChampionsGate, Florida on Friday. The 295 would tie the Bulldogs for second place with Sacred Heart, while putting the team three shots behind Long Island for first if they qualified for the team championship. Bryant is not eligible to win the overall team championship this season, but the players are eligible to compete on an individual level.
Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) continued his solid play, shooting a 72 in round one to lead the Bulldogs and tie him for eighth overall. four-shots back from the leader. A pair of Foxboro, Mass. natives came in right behind Thresher, as Mike Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) and Scott Congdon (Foxboro, Mass.) each shot a 74. Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) and Alex Daley (Hudson, Mass.) rounded out a solid day for Bryant, shooting a 75 and 76 respectively.
The Bulldogs will continue play on Saturday at ChampionsGate, with play concluding on Sunday.
