THRESHER FIFTH, LEADS TRIO OF BULLDOGS IN TOP 10 AFTER SECOND ROUND OF NEC GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
Round Two Results / Live Scoring
SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University senior golf standout Jason Thresher (West Suffield, Conn.) sits in fifth after the second round of the 2010 Northeast Conference Golf Championships, leading a trio of Bulldogs in the top 10 after Saturday action.
Thresher repeated his round one 74 Saturday and currently sits just four over and four behind leader Josh Salah of Sacred Heart. A five-stroke improvement from Kyle Hoffman (Pawtucket, R.I.) moves the junior into sole possession of eighth place, up nine spots from his day one position, while Spencer Sweitzer (Lunenburg, Mass.) shares ninth with three other conference golfers with a two-day score of 151 (75-76).
Senior Mike Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) currently sits tied for 44th after carding an 84 in the tournament’s second round, while Greg Najarian (Rumford, R.I.) ranks 50th in the 54-golfer field.
Bryant is competing as individuals only at the championships and will not be included in the team scoring, as the Bulldogs are still reclassifying and are not eligible for NCAA championship play. The NEC Championships will conclude with the third and final round Sunday.
