Serge and Rodriguez Named First Team All-Conference
South Easton, Mass. – Bryant seniors Andrew Serge
(Albany, NY) and Ryan Rodriguez (Fairfield, Conn.) were named to
the Northeast-10 Men's Lacrosse First Team All-Conference squad the
conference office announced this weekend. Serge led the
Bulldogs with 29 goals this season while Rodriguez was one of the
top defensemen in the conference this season.
Serge (right) finished the regular season sixth in the conference in scoring with 1.93 goals per game and tied for fifth with 29 total goals this year. He was also fifth in the league with 21 assists and sixth with 3.33 points per game.
Rodriguez (left) helped anchor the Bulldog defense this season,
guiding Bryant to its sixth-straight conference tournament
appearance in six seasons. Rodriguez also played a key role in
guiding the Bulldogs back into the conference championship with an
overtime goal - the first of his career - in Bryant's upset of
Merrimack, 10-9 in the conference semifinals.
Travis Tarr, a junior defender from Le Moyne College and a native of Auburn, N.Y. has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Year as voted on by the conference coaches.
Tarr, who earned dual honors as the Defensive Player of the Year helped led the Dolphins to another first place finish in the Northeast-10 during the regular season. He was an anchor to a team defense that allowed just 37 goals against over 13 games, for a minuscule team goals against average of just 2.85. Tarr also contributed four assists and 30 groundballs from the backfield.
Tarr also earned Defensive Player of the Year honors last season.
Attack Mike McDonald of Le Moyne and Latham, N.Y. has been named Freshman of the Year. McDonald was one of the top-scoring freshmen in the NE-10 this season, registering 29 goals and 15 assists for 44 points.
Junior Jared Corcoran of Le Moyne and Concord, N.H. has been named Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season. Corcoran posted a Northeast-10 and Division II best 3.30 GAA this season (down from 4.32 last season) along with a .650 save percentage (up from .620 last season).
Dan Sheehan of Le Moyne earned Coach of the Year Honors for the fourth time, having also won the award from 2001-2003. Sheehan led a program that began and ended the 2005 regular season as the top-ranked team in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II poll.
Joining Serge and Rodriguez on the Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team were Tarr, Corcoran and McDonald along with fellow Le Moyne teammates Brandon Spillett, Ryan Lewis, Kyle Reichel, Bob Tulowiecki, Nolan Godfrey of Merrimack, and Chris Doran.
The Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team included Matt Hoffman of Assumption College, Michael Creonte and Ryan Rosa of Bentley College, Matt Holdridge of Le Moyne, Chris Elia and Kurt Carlson of Merrimack, Dave Cordano of Pace University, Kevin Allwarden of Saint Anselm College, Brandon Kobelt of Saint Michael’s College, and Josh Law and Mike Hutnick of Southern New Hampshire University.
