Box Score
SMITHFIELD, RI – Keith Henderson scored five goals
and added five assists to lead second-ranked New York Institute of
Technology to a 20-12 win over eighth-ranked Bryant University on a
cold and blustery afternoon at Bulldog Stadium Saturday
afternoon. Joe Droge added four goals and three assists
as the visiting Bears improved to 5-0 on the season.
Bryant (2-1) fell behind 2-0 in the first 1:23 of the game but a
Bryan Kauffman goal on an assist from Andrew Hennessey pulled the
Bulldogs within 2-1 seven seconds later. NYIT would answer
with four-straight goals to take a 6-1 advantage before Hennessey
would answer for Bryant with an unassisted tally after winning a
faceoff.
NYIT, the defending Division II champion, outscored Bryant 11-0
over the next two quarters to take control of the game as Joseph
Vasold’s goal made the score 17-2. The Bulldogs would
mount a late rally as Adam Smith’s three second-half goals
helped Bryant outscore the Bears 8-1 in the fourth
quarter.
Freshman Matt McKeefrey had a pair of goals and finished with three
assists while Kauffman and Hennessey each had a pair of
goals. Bryant will host Saint Anselm on Wednesday in a
Northeast-10 Conference game at Smithfield, RI.
