Three Bulldogs Named To All-America Team For 2006
SMITHFIELD,RI - The Bryant University men's lacrosse team placed three players on the 2006 All-America squad announced recently by LaxPower. Freshman standout Andrew Hennessey earned first team all-America honors while senior defenseman Tim Duffany earned second team all-America honors and senior midfielder Steve Coppinger rounded out the list with honorable mention recognition.
Hennessey (left), a native of Wading River, New York, started all
16 games for the Bulldogs as the team's face-off specialist.
Along with six goals and one assist this season, Hennessey won 65
percent of Bryant's face-offs, winning 218 of 336. In
addition, he led the team with 74 total ground balls for the
year.
Duffany, a preseason all-America selection by Face-Off Magazine, lived up to the billing as the team's top defensive presence this season. Starting in all 16 games for the Bulldogs, the East Falmouth, Massachusetts native garnered 69 total ground balls.
Coppinger, also a preseason all-America selection, netted 17 goals this season and added seven assists. Three of his goals proved to be game-winners for the Bulldogs as the Bethesda, Maryland native concludes his career third all-time in school history with 84 career goals and fourth with 126 points.
Bryant finished the season 11-5 and ranked No. 9 in the final USILA Division II poll.
