Men's Lacrosse Moves Up To No. 3 National Ranking - Highest Ever For Bulldogs

MEN'S LACROSSE RANKED NO. 3 THIS WEEK; BULLDOGS HOST SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE SATURDAY FOR SENIOR DAY

SMITHFIELD, RI - The Bryant University men's lacrosse team moved up to No. 3 in this week's USILA Coaches' Poll.  The ranking surpasses last year's high of No. 4 as the Bulldogs take a 11-3 overall record into this Saturday's regular-season finale against Southern New Hampshire at Bulldog Stadium (1 pm).   Bryant is currently second in the conference standings with NE-10 quarterfinals action set to begin next Tuesday, April 29. The top two teams will earn a bye and host a semifinal game on Friday, May 2.

Winners of eight-straight, the Bryant University men's lacrosse team returns to action this Saturday hosting Southern New Hampshire for Senior Day. The Bulldogs will honor seniors Vince Zorskas, Brent Stoothoff, Jesse Rose, Zach Rosenow, Grady Moore, Michael Kennedy, Joseph Cottiletta and Corey MacDougall prior to the start of today's game. The 2008 Northeast-10 Conference tournament will begin Tuesday, April 29 with first-round games.  The top two teams in the conference will receive a first-round bye. The semifinals will take place Friday, May 2 at Bulldog Stadium with the championship scheduled for Sunday, May 4.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Bryant is led this season by the junior combo of Kevin Hoagland and Bryan Kaufmann who have been putting up some impressive numbers this season. Hoagland enters Saturday's game with 39 goals on the year - including four game-winners.  He was named the NE-10 Player of the Week for the second week in-a-row after scoring five goals in Saturday's 19-5 win over Saint Anselm.  Kaufmann (28 goals on the season) notched his 100th and 101st goals of his career in the win over Assumption last week ...  Sophomore Andrew Hennessey had an incredible week for the Bulldogs, winning 42 of 47 face-off's in two games last week and added a goal in the win over Assumption ...  Vince Zorskas needs 6 ground balls to move into second all-time at Bryant. Zorskas comes into tonight's game with 191 in his career.  Brian Healey is the all-time leader with 400 ... 

LOOKING AT THE PENMEN
Southern New Hampshire entered Thursday's game with Bentley looking to snap a three-game losing streak. The Penmen fell to Merrimack 9-8 and Saint Anselm 15-14 in OT and dropped a 21-7 decision at Le Moyne over the weekend.
