BULLDOG MEN'S LACROSSE PRACTICE UNDERWAY
SMITHFIELD,RI - Temperatures may still be hovering around freezing,
but that hasn't stopped the Bryant men's lacrosse team which is
well underway in its second week of practice. The Bulldogs, under
second year coach Mike Pressler, have been working
hard at the Turf Field Complex in preparation for the 2008 season
opener February 23 against Adelphi at home. This season marks
the final for the Bulldogs in Division II as the program will move
to Division I in 2009.
Bryant is coming off its most successful season in school history, posting a perfect 9-0 record in capturing the Northeast-10 Conference regular season title and achieving a No. 1 regional ranking for the first time in the program's history.
This year's team returns all but one player from last year's team and welcomes 22 top-notch freshman recruits to the lineup. Bryan Kaufmann and Kevin Hoagland will form one of the league's best one-two offensive weapons in 2008. The pair have looked sharp in the first week's of practice. Kaufmann led the team with 44 goals and 20 assists in earning Co-Player of the Year honors in the NE-10 while Hoagland, a powerful finisher in front of the cage, netted 40 goals and 10 assists.
