BULLDOGS RANKED NO. 20 IN LAXNEWS WEEKLY POLL; RANKED NO. 4 IN NEILA COACHES POLL
SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- In just its second season of Division I action, the Bryant University men's lacrosse team has vaulted itself onto the forefront of the national scene, earning a No. 20 ranking in the LAXnews weekly poll, as announced Monday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (1-1) are fresh off a 7-4 victory over the University of Vermont in their 2010 home opener after proving they could hang with the best, falling just 5-4 in their season opener against No. 4 North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Bryant has also earned a place in the regional rankings, named the No. 4 team in New England by NEILA coaches.
This is the first appearance of the season for the Bulldogs on the NEILA poll and the first-ever national ranking garnered by the Bryant program. The Black and Gold are also recieving votes in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse media poll, one of the top two polls in the nation.
