Bulldogs receive votes in pair of national polls

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- With its three-game winning streak and perfect 3-0 mark at home, the 2012 Bryant University men's lacrosse team is receiving votes in both major national polls, as released Monday afternoon.

The Bulldogs (4-2) are receiving votes in both the most recent USILA Coaches Poll and the latest Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, marking the team's first appearance of the season on the latter and second-consecutive appearance on the USILA list.

This is the Bulldogs' third overall appearance in the receiving votes section of the USILA Coaches Poll in 2012 after appearing last week as well as in the preseason poll. Bryant's 14-12 win over the University at Albany started the team's first winning streak of the season after home victories over Vermont, 15-8, and Drexel, 7-6, in its most recent outings.

The Bulldogs are one of two Northeast Conference schools receiving votes this week, joined by Robert Morris. A pair of 2012 Bryant opponents are ranked in the top 20 (#16/16 Fairfield and #12/13 Colgate) in both polls, and future opponent Yale is also receiving votes.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host the Seawolves of Stony Brook University in their second-straight matchup against an America East foe.
