Bulldogs team to beat in NEC

BULLDOGS TABBED AS TEAM TO BEAT BY INSIDE LACROSSE

SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- Bryant University men's lacrosse is the team to beat in 2013, the first season in which the Northeast Conference will earn an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament, according to a preseason coaches poll taken by Inside Lacrosse.

In addition to the top-spot nod, five Bulldogs were named Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-Conference picks, each of them returning 2012 first teamers in senior captain Peter McMahon (Wilton, Conn.), junior leading scorer Colin Dunster (Cos Cob, Conn.), sophomore faceoff phenom Kevin Massa (Huntington, N.Y.), senior 2012 Tewaaraton Award semifinalist Mason Poli (Downingtown, Pa.) and senior starting defenseman Glenn Maiorano (Easton, Conn.).

Bryant earned the most preseason all-league picks, followed by three for Mount St. Mary's (picked to finish second) and Sacred Heart (tabbed fifth), and one apiece from Wagner (sixth) and Robert Morris (third). Quinnipiac was selected by the league's head coaches to finish fourth in 2013.

The Bulldogs are knocking on the Preseason Top 20 rankings as well, coming in at No. 26 in the annual Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook. To read the full story on Bryant and how the Northeast Conference is predicted to shake out, click here.
