SMITHFIELD, RI ? Bryant University and Southern Connecticut State University battled to a 0-0 overtime tie in Northeast-10 Conference men?s soccer action here Thursday. The game marks the third time this season the Bulldogs have gone into overtime and the first resulting in a draw. Bryant had defeated Merrimack on Sept. 21 in overtime and put together a solid 110 minutes against the seventh-ranked Owls Thursday.

The Bulldogs controlled play for much of the game and out-shot Southern Connecticut 10-8 in the match. The Bryant defense held Southern Connecticut to just two shots in the second half. The Bulldogs had a strong chance to put the game away in regulation as Clint Stonacek (Omaha, Neb.) broke in after picking up a misplayed ball by the Owls defense, but Chris Zura (Essex Junction, Vt.) made a nice defensive tackle on Stonacek just outside the goal box to keep the game scoreless.

Both teams would continue to battle hard throughout the overtime period. In the final two minutes, Joe Vouris (Islip, N.Y.) was able to break in alone after a long lead pass but was unable to control it and SCSU goalkeeper Tim Doheny (Wayne, N.J.) was able to corral the loose ball and clear.

Bryant will travel to Saint Anselm on Saturday (11 a.m.) and host Bentley next Tuesday.
