Bulldogs kick win streak to 3 with 1-0 victory over
Felician
Smithfield, RI - The Bryant University men’s
soccer team welcomed non-conference opponent Felician College to
Bulldog Stadium on a rainy Monday, October 10 afternoon. Bryant won
the game 1-0 off a corner kick. The Bulldogs are now 6-4-3 overall
and remain 5-3-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
The game was tied going into the half in a game controlled by the
Bulldogs. Bryant had multiple opportunities to put the ball into
the net in the first half put could not connect. Junior
Justin Stepnowski (Glastonbury, CT) had the first
chance on a header a few minutes in, but would have the ball hit
off the crossbar and wind up in the hands of the keeper.
Corner kicks were the story of this match. The Bulldogs held a 16-0
advantage in corner kicks but could not make one count until the
74th minute. Senior Michael Anania
(Warren, RI) sent the corner kick perfectly in front of the net to
have it ricochet off a Felician player. Senior Ben
Cramer (Marlborough, MA) took advantage of the loose ball
and fired it into the back of the net for the games only goal. This
was Cramer’s second game winning goal of the season.
The Golden Falcons had solid goalkeeping by senior Anthony Quarino
(Columbus, NJ) who made nine saves and only allowed the one goal.
Junior Alex Bissias (Harpswell, ME) recorded his
third win in a row and second shutout saving three shots.
The Bulldogs will return to Northeast-10 Conference play on
Saturday, October 15 when they will visit Southern Connecticut.
Game time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
