- The Bryant University men’s soccer team welcomed Saint
Rose to Bulldog stadium on a cloudy September 17, Saturday
afternoon. The Bulldogs defeated Saint Rose 5-1. Bryant is now
2-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
Bryant got off to a hot start when freshman Manny
Rodriguez (North Branford, CT) headed the ball past the
keeper just three minutes into the game. Five minutes later junior
Bryan Gravel (Londonderry, NH) gave the Bulldogs a
2-0 lead off a header on a perfect pass from senior Michael
Anania (Warren, RI). Anania would contribute a goal early
in the second half.
The Bulldogs would not look back after jumping out 2-0 not even 10
minutes into the game. They would take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Saint Rose got on the board early in the second half on a penalty
kick from Todd Driscoll.
Sophomore Mike Gargiulo (North Branford, CT) and
freshman Kyle Bruton (Guilford, CT) each
contributed a goal for the Bulldogs.
Goalkeeper’s sophomore Tom Madden (Saco, ME)
and junior Alex Bissias (Harpswell, ME) both
played for the Bulldogs saving three shots and only allowing one
goal.
The Bulldogs will host Franklin Pierce on Friday, September 23 at
3:30pm.
